Pros and cons of Keltis app for iPhone and iPad

Keltis app good for

A very good Strategic boardgame similar to the original one. Quick to play. Efficient gaming mechanism with simple and well honed rules. Nice design. Two concerns: 1/ when you get a bonus luck move, its very difficult to poke the chosen stone. Maybe because its size is too small. A zooming feature would be great to enhance the experience 2/ The campaign is a deception. It looks great but very quickly youre asked to pay more to go farther. I would prefer a pay-once-and-for-all version
Great implementation with more-than-competent AI, but its the Campaign Mode where this game really shines, adding a whole new layer of twists and challenge to this classic Knizia design.
If you know and like the boardgame, then its a must have. Even though there is a few glitches - like when the game ends, there seems to be no way to see the final board and score...? Good game. I hope some patches will correct these little problems.
I finished the First Campaign Path and at end it has three more Paths namely, Granite, Moonstone and Diamond Paths. It is $3 for those in app purchase. Also to play New Challenges its another $3. So yea its $10 app ...$4 for Keltis (play against AI or humans mix and match 2 to 4 player). Campaign is solo mode but kinda different where you reach your target score to advance to next stone in path. New Challenges is like a mix of paths with 5 different colored wishing stones and discard tiles. Tutorial is excellent although I just played first couple games its easy to follow. Bump up game speed in settings as default is turtle slow. Note this does have the variant ascending/descending which is chosen once you place your second card (assuming not same value) up or down.
Great version of the boardgame known as Lost Cities in the US. Overall presentation and music is very nice, however the interface seems a bit crammed - but dont be fooled by the amount of numbers: The games rules are easy to learn. Im playing on an iPod touch 1G running OS 3.1.3 without any crashes. Edit: Campaign is now available and a fun way to play the game in solo mode. Not cheap but imho worth the $3.
this is a great card based strategy game, similiar to "lost cities". the board is kinda small on the iphone, but its only a 3.5 inch display. I play it on my ipad, and the board is so much bigger. any plans for a seperate ipad version ?

Some bad moments

Did they make it Right... Nope, it looks like only realtime multiplayer. The game is sitting there waiting for players... when will devs learn. Async against my friends, thats where the pleasure lies in games like this. This is another game I will pass on. no asynch is commercial suicide. Asynch is THE mode for ios boardgame online play, many of us have kids and busy lives, live play is simply not practical or possible. I cant believe the production manager/designer is so out of step with reality. Who made the decision of no asynch should be sacked. No way Ohne asynchronen Online Multiplayer Bekommt man meist keine Gegenspieler. Toll mitgedacht. Halbherzig. Schade
Game is a good implementation of the board game, but not being able to continue an unfinished game after leaving the app and coming back is unforgivable. If this is fixed in later versions I will reevaluate my score.
No save feature, you cant play a game and continue later, but that doesnt really matter because this game is a crash fest. Whatever you do, dont click the help icon during a game. Unless you want to start over. I havent played this in a while and thought I would pick it up again because it is a great board game and I love the mechanics. But it is so unstable it is virtually unplayable. iPhone 6 Plus, latest iOS.
Fun game but lots of technical problems and keeps crashing. Wish I hadnt bought it.
Loads title screens but crashes loading the initial game menu. Wait for an update to 1.1 before buying.
The rules/gameplay are great but the implementation is too buggy and unpolished. It crashes frequently, doesnt save/restore games in progress when you exit and re-enter, and does dumb stuff like obscure the board with a dialog when the game is over, preventing you from reviewing the end board. It doesnt even highlight the winner clearly or say who won -- you have to look at the scores and hope youre only playing 2 player so that the end game dialog doesnt obscure some of the scores. Cmon guys, get it together. Reference the Carcasonne implementation for how to do it right.
